Last Update:2026-07-08

Summary

On June 30, ten government departments including the Ministry of Transport jointly issued the Guidelines on Improving the Comprehensive Transport System for Modern Metropolitan Areas. With a focus on connectivity, integration, quality enhancement, and renewal, the Guidelines aim to: foster seamless coordination between external, intercity, and urban-rural transport services within metropolitan areas; achieve integrated alignment with urban transport systems; refine the multi-centre, multi-corridor, and networked spatial layout; and ensure greater alignment with metropolitan spatial and functional structures. The overarching goal is to improve the comprehensive transport system for modern metropolitan areas, thereby providing robust support for the development of clustered, networked modern metropolitan areas.
