On June 18, the general offices of five departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Commerce jointly issued the Notice on Launching the 2026 New Energy Vehicle Rural Promotion Campaign. The document proposes to organize a new energy vehicle (NEV) rural promotion campaign under the theme of "green, low-carbon, intelligent and safe", and implement supporting policies including reductions and exemptions on vehicle purchase tax and vehicle and vessel tax, as well as initiatives to shore up weak links in county-level charging and swapping infrastructure. It will further roll out the vehicle trade-in program in rural areas with dedicated trade-in zones. Rural consumers who trade in their old vehicles for new energy vehicles may apply for the vehicle trade-in subsidy in accordance with policy requirements, with no quota limits on subsidy eligibility.Meanwhile, continuous efforts will be made to optimize the supporting application environment, and promote the deployment of intelligent connected vehicle technologies, new-type charging and swapping technologies, photovoltaic-energy storage-charging integration, vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technologies and other solutions in rural areas.
