2026 Work Priorities for Automotive Standardization

Summary

On May 26, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the Key Points of Automobile Standardization Work 2026, aiming to boost the high-quality development of the automobile industry with high-level standards. The document specifies the formulation of a construction plan for the 15th Five-Year technical standard system of the automobile industry, and improves standard systems in key areas such as intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs), automotive chips, new energy vehicles (NEVs), and low-carbon development of automobiles. Four special standard actions on quality and safety, green and low-carbon development, emerging fields, and future technologies are deployed to advance the formulation, revision and forward-looking research of standards in areas including automobile safety, core components, new energy, intelligent connectivity, automotive chips and automotive artificial intelligence. China will deeply participate in the formulation of international automobile regulations and standards, strive to achieve an international standard conversion rate of over 90% in the industry, and expand multilateral and bilateral cooperation on automobile standardization.
