On July 20, the National Energy Administration (NEA) issued the Notice on Further Advancing the Rural Energy Revolution and Launching Pilot Work for the Construction of Village and Town Micro-energy Networks. On the basis of coordinating high-quality development of renewable energy and energy supply security, and in light of rural resource endowments and energy consumption demands, the Notice explores new models and business forms of "village-generated energy for village consumption". It promotes the coordinated development and utilization of electric and non-electric energy, strengthens the coordinated aggregation and management of sources and loads, and innovates models for project investment, construction and operation. The initiative aims to ease the investment pressure on the upgrading and renovation of rural power grids, raise the cleanliness and low-carbon level of rural energy use, enhance the capacity for self-balancing energy security, cut comprehensive energy consumption costs, and explore solutions for building new rural power grids and a new energy system.
