The "Advanced Clean Fleets" requires medium and heavy-duty vehicles to transition to zero emissions in phases, and explicitly states that as of 2036, California will prohibit the sale of fuel-powered trucks. This is the world's first rule that demands new commercial trucks, including garbage trucks, delivery trucks, and other medium and heavy-duty vehicles, to use electric cars. The regulation, together with the "Advanced Clean Truck Regulation" approved in March 2021, will help California achieve its goal of transitioning all trucks driven within the state to zero emissions by 2045.
