Under the driving forces of policy and technological innovation, China's transportation sector is accelerating its green and low-carbon transition, particularly in fields such as shipping, non-road mobile machinery, aviation, and rail transport, where significant progress has been made. At the same time, new challenges and opportunities are emerging.
To further promote the zero-emission transformation of sub-sectors beyond road transport and accelerate China's move towards zero emissions, the China Clean Transportation Partnership (CCTP) has collaborated with renowned industry institutions and senior experts to jointly compile the Towards Zero Emissions: Green Transition and Prospects in China's Non-Road Transportation. As part of the Blue Book on China's Zero-Emission Transformation in Transportation series, this book provides an in-depth examination of the green and low-carbon transformation in sectors such as non-road mobile machinery, shipping and ports, aviation, and rail transport. It analyzes the current state and challenges of transformation in these fields, offering policy recommendations and technological pathways for the future.
The book is divided into four chapters, connecting 30 key issues that address the core topics of non-road transport. The chapter on non-road mobile machinery summarizes the latest domestic and international developments and trends, offering policy suggestions tailored to China's low-carbon development in this sector. The shipping and ports chapter focuses on emission reduction policies and practices at both domestic and industry levels, exploring diversified emission reduction pathways. The aviation chapter details the current state of carbon emissions, demand forecasts, and future trends in the aviation industry, with a focus on the application prospects of sustainable aviation fuels and electric aircraft, while proposing a range of feasible emission reduction measures. Finally, the transportation structure adjustment - passenger transport chapter reviews the development, energy consumption, and emissions status of high-speed rail, providing an in-depth analysis of its potential and feasibility in replacing short-haul civil aviation.
This book offers valuable insights for policymakers, industry professionals, and researchers on the latest trends and future directions in the green and low-carbon transformation of non-road transport, providing intellectual support for policy-making and strategic planning.
CCTP is a non-governmental, non-profit, and voluntary platform, focusing on policy and technological innovations, summarizing and disseminating national and global practices for a net-zero transportation sector.
